Collector's Note on Original Production Drawings
Original production drawings offer an intimate look into the artistry of traditional animation. Before a cel was ever painted, each expression was carefully crafted in graphite, frame by frame. Character drawings showcase the nuanced facial acting that made Ralph Bakshi's adaptation so emotionally compelling. Each drawing is a unique, one-of-a-kind artifact from the creation of the film.
Unlike painted cels, production drawings expose the artist's original pencil work—the first stage where emotion, timing, and personality were created. They are the foundation upon which every animated performance was built, preserving the animator's hand exactly as it appeared during production.
Only after these drawings were approved by Bakshi, did they then go to the Ink and Paint department. There they are traced carefully in black ink and then to the paint department where, layer by layer, the cel is carefully painted. Then on to the camera department.

You see the house from your own perspective, making every hallway, hiding spot, and unexpected sound feel much more threatening. Survival is not about overpowering Granny but about staying alert and making smart choices.
