- Location: The events take place on the hill of Weathertop (Amon Sûl) in the Midgewater Marshes region of Middle-earth.
- Events: Frodo and his companions (Aragorn, Sam, Merry, and Pippin) are cornered by the nine Nazgûl (Dark Riders) while camping. Frodo puts on the One Ring, which makes him visible to the Nazgûl's leader, the Witch-king.
- The Attack: The Witch-king plunges a Morgul-blade into Frodo's shoulder.
- Resolution: Aragorn drives off the Dark Riders with fire and sword. Frodo is left gravely wounded by the shard of the blade that remains in his body. The final panel text mentions Aragorn picking up his sword and confirming Frodo is not dead.
